No, you must use an AT&T calling card. They have a monopoly over there with the pay phones. The minutes can be costly. Ask your husband to check at the MWR on his camp and see if the have SPAWAR phones. They offer phone minutes for about 4 cents a minute. If you are going to go the AT&T route, buy a phone card at your local PX or have him buy one over there. If you buy one at walmart, you will get less than half of the minutes that is listed on the card, because of international rates. Like I said, ask him about SPAWAR. It saved me alot of money. Good luck.
Just like Derek says ATT
get the card from the exchange or when he gets over there
you can take the information off the back and keep it up
on the minutes that is what i did whil hubby was over there
he was there 9 months back in 2004 and is going again soon
good luck
by the way while he was there we used Yahoo IM and didn’t have to mauch trouble and we did the web cam and talk as well just another way of talking as well
The other posters are correct. For a cheaper way to talk, if the soldier has internet connection and the person at home does too, use SKYPE. You can talk and see each other via web cams and doesn’t cost anything to use.
the AT&T one is the best..most minutes for the least cost, unless he can find a local one where he is.
