    Yes you can.
As long as the calling card service provides “local access” dial-around numbers, or 1-800 toll-free access numbers, then you do not need to have long distance access enabled on your land-line phone.

I myself do not have long distance service enabled on my PSTN land-line phone. I just use VoIP and CallCentric calling card access to make all my long distance phone calls.

    yes you can.

I dropped my long distance carrier 8 years ago. No more paying a minimum monthly service fee, no more mandated FCC fees.

I use my cell phone for long distance, if I need to fax, I use a phone card.

Not all phone cards are created equal!
Check the fine print. Some cards will eat time after the first use, some do not, some charge a connect fee, some do not.

    research before you jump.

you can program speed dial locations for the access/authorization codes so you do not need to dial so many digits.

Yes you can. Just use 1.9 cents a minute without any fee or tax + bonus minutes

Yes since most calling cards will offer you a toll free number or a local number.

If you want a recommendation for a calling card co. I suggest Net One as i have been through most out there and this is the best by far.

I think most people now uses a calling card instead of using their providers long distance service due to major difference in rates.

I’ve been using Onesuite.com calling cards for about 2 years now and I think I’m saving something between $20 to $30 a month compared with when I still uses my service provider long distance service.
