Are you are that the phone cards sold at Costco are usable in Mexico and many other countries? The way they work is that you call the toll-free number provided in the country you are in and key in the international access code and PIN number when asked. I am pretty sure that they are cheaper per minute than the TELMEX phone cards sold everywhere in Mexico.
Actually, most phone cards sold in the US are usable in Mexico using a similar system.

But the phone cards over there are worthless. You will only get like 2-5 minutes out of them. And you can only make one call, because if you try to use it again.. it will tell you that you don’t have sufficient balance.

I suggest you get those mexican calling cards that they sell here in the states for like 2 or 5 dollars. Those can be used in Mexico and you will get many many many more minutes out of them.
