Hidden taxes
I am keeping all of my receipts this year to see how much I pay in hidden taxes each year.
So far for Jan I have paid $55.31 in sales tax on purchases. This amount also includes my Electric Bill and Gas taxes.
Feb was even worse. $94.05 in sales tax and the two aformentioned utility bills. I forgot to include my cable bill and Verizon wireless in these figures. This could total almost $900.00 dollars or more if I figure the per gallon gas hidden tax and the cigarette tax for the year. Potential hitting $1800.00 by years end.
What these numbers don’t include is the hidden tax on every gallon of gas I buy which is 12.4 cents per gallon. The tax on cigarettes per pack. I live in Georgia and that tax is .37 cents per pack . Yes I could avoid the cigarette tax by quitting, but that is not the subject of this post.
It’s the hidden taxes we all pay every day and are not aware of. Here is a link so you can see what kind of hidden taxes you are paying in your state. Some of you are really getting hammered. Highest gas tax is in New York at 44.6 cents per gallon and then Hawaii with 44.4 cents
And if you are a drinker you get hammered in more one than one way if you are unfortunate to live in Washington state or Oregon. Respectively you pay a tax per gallon for liquor at the staggering rate of $26.45 per gallon and $24.63.
3 and 3/4 liters are in a gallon. For round numbers sake lets just divide that by 4. $ 6.61 per liter of liquor in WA is a tax.
Smokers get hit the hardest in Rhode Island to the tune of $3.46 per pack.
Now in GA they want to begin taxing services. Gimme a break, tax tax tax. Only the regular joes the working poor if you will pay these taxes on a regular basis.
