Is your retirement in jeopardy?

June 16th, 2011 No comments

Comcast ran this headline as a lead in to a rant on Junior Baby Boomers. I thought about it about 1/10th of a second before saying aloud, “My retirement has been in jeopardy since the days of Ronald Reagan. We shifted the burden of paying for the larger tax burden from the businesses to the people only to have the money drift to the top and then overseas. The solution in this country that we keep hearing about is that we need to give more to businesses. That’s how we got into this mess. I don’t want to give to someone else’s business anymore. I want to give to Domestic American Businesses. The financial industry hasn’t cared about our success or profits. Turn about is fair play. Regulate them and lets let the average Joe start to rebuild the country from the ground up. My retirement is at risk because the economy was put at risk by greedy sages that gave us crappy advice.

The article doesn’t get to the meat of the matter.

Find a working solution

We aren’t balancing government budgets because we have too many people out of work. More folks working mean more balanced budgets.

Solutions are about solving this stuff… If you’ve followed my posts, you know that I’m for emboldening the average worker, imposing an import tariff, reverting back to progressive taxation, regulating the financial district (especially anything to do with bonds & derivatives), stripping corporations of personhood, campaign finance reform, collective bargaining, and choking lobbyists.

Any other ideas that you thing might fly… feel free to run it up the flagpole so we can all see it.

Stealing your 401K’s

Two links on the plan to take your money, man o man it never ends.

The Democratic Congress along with Obama have a plan to Do Away with the Pay roll tax of Social Security. In its place- they want to take 5% of YOUR 401K deduction from your paycheck- and use that money to fund the Social Security Program. YOUR MONEY- YOUR INDIVIDUAL RETIREMENT MONEY.

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————–

According to widespread media reports both the U.S. Treasury Department and the Department of Labor plan are planning to stage a public-comment period before implementing regulations that would require U.S. savers to invest portions of their 401(k) savings plans and Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) into annuities or other “steady” payment streams backed by U.S. government bonds.

Folks, there’s only one reason these agencies would do such a thing – the nation’s creditors think that U.S. government bonds are a bad bet and don’t want to buy them anymore. So like a grifter who’s down to his last dollar, the administration is hoping to get its hands on our hard-earned savings before the American people realize they’ve had the wool pulled over their eyes … once again.

Rich get richer – poor get poorer

June 13th, 2011 No comments

Does anyone remember those who decried a “sucking sound” with free trade?  The elite and rich corporations have absconded with much of America’s wealth, and now they spend more to build industries in autocratic countries; and that until a day when America’s wages are reduced to slave labor levels.

Our forefathers spent billions and trillions of dollars and hours to build America, and now our legislators are selling America down the river in a few decades.

Under present plans, the only way America will get those industries and jobs back is when we have slave labor in America;…or America uses it’s technologies and automation to bring those industries and jobs back with or without jobs.  We would have more of the money and technologies right here in order to create other solutions and jobs.  Those industries should be recreated smaller and locally and not as large conglomerates.  All of our BASIC necessities should be locally produced as they once were.  That would be the greatest protection from natural and man-made disasters, including an autarchic tyranny.

Science and technology will soon reach an escape velocity where the only way to keep up will be for mankind to emerge with our technology.  I have long believed this even before Ray Kurzweil’s book “The Singularity Is Near”.  There may be a question whether Ray’s prediction of that date of 2045 is likely.   I believe it will come before most people imagine.  We need to generate more power and control back toward the individual or risk a greater disaster for the ordinary man.  Where conglomerate power is unnecessary it must be fallen back.  Recreating more competition through improvements in human interdependence, connections through a general public mergence with new technology intelligence and through automation can aid this outcome.  All of this needs to be accomplished through as portable power as possible as demonstrated with this new technology from MIT:  Semi-Solid Lithium Rechargeable Flow Battery that reduce the cost and size of batteries half the current levels making vehicles fully competitive with conventional gas or diesel-powered vehicles….A ten-fold improvement in energy density, etc.  Now being licensed to a company called 24M Technologies.  Wake-up America!  The future is here and we need to grasp the challenges to rebuild the free world and America.  Stop listening to those individuals decrying that America’s government is too lethargic and contentious to outperform autocratic governments like China.  They are saying that America is unable to make big plans like China.  Is that true?

I want my BASIC necessities right here LOCALLY, under mine, and my local community controls.  America and science can do these things if legislators regain our ancestor’s intestinal fortitude for big undertakings.

Otherwise we can continue to watch our industries, jobs, and wealth vanish with that colossal “sucking sound”!
