Cost Cuts in Discretionary Spending

March 10th, 2011 No comments

Been watching the senate lately? It looks like musical chairs and none of the chairs ever leave the floor! There seems to be no trust involved at any level, on any side. I wish someone would explain to me why no one mentions to the obviously upset folks who make grand amounts of money that most of the people who are presently collecting benefits are people who have been working hard all thier lives, and not what some class as “welfare queens”. I also wish that the cuts being considered were across the board of all of our expeditures, and not just those that benefit our country the most at every level. What comes in defense of those programs ends up sounding like whining, because a unified, true to reality plan has not been developed. Fear versus common sense seems to be ruling the day. I have heard mention of cuts to virutually every program which could equitably made, without harming our national defense, our children or our health care, but someone on one side or the other can’t get thier mind around it, and perhaps because bills are sometimes linked together. There are many billions of dollars accounted for in the reports given of duplicitous agencies and bills which have passed over the years, whose useless overage in use of funds NEEDS to be reduced by cutting the agencies if there are more than one of each. That seems to me to be an amicable place to START cutting. I believe hatred and hysteria have blinded the view of many of our consitutents who are influencing our senators to basically go to civil war, instead of solving our problems. I also think that if we don’t leave our comments to our senators in an informative peacable base, that they will continue to feel that they are called upon to fight a cold war in the senate, instead of taking our comments (which we desperately need to make to have a say in our nation) as suggestions as to what is needed and how to accomplish a valid solution to our difficulties. It is unfortuante to watch them struggle to do thier jobs, wieghted down with peoples hate issues. We could all squabble forever, but that wouldn’t get our nation up and running. After all the ranting, we must get down to brass tacks and fix our problems. If a referee took part, he or she would only be linked as part of the hate induced difficulty. So I’m guessing it is up to us to spread the word for peacable cooperation. What do you think, party not involved?

Amazing Coincidence

April 19th, 2010 No comments
It amazes me that by sheer coincidence the SEC sues Goldman-Sachs on a Friday, when on Monday the Democratic controlled U.S. Senate is attempting to pass legislation taking on the big banks, and today the Senate Finance Committee Chairman says Republicans should not try to stop the “reforms” because the Goldman-Sachs lawsuit is a perfect example of what can happen without the proposed controls.
