I was recently at the Target store here an my purchase came to $32 and change. So I swipe my credit card to pay, and the young guy I had for a cashier just hands me the register receipt and says “have a good day and thanks for shopping at Target”.
Me: “Don’t I need to sign for the purchase?
Him: “Oh no sir, you don’t have to sign if the transaction is $50 or less”.
So I left with something still bothering me———I didn’t have to sign, and he didn’t ask me for any ID. Seems to me this could cause a security problem——–how does he know if I’m the person named on the card? Anyone could swipe it and no one would know a fraud had just been committed.
Have any of you had this happen at any other retailer? It’s a first for me. I know I’m protect with the credit card, in the event such a thing did happen, but it still makes me uneasy.
